Break a Horse

As a horse owner you know that your horse needs to be comfortable in being handled and tie up when needed example for the farrier or a vet's visit.

The horse needs to be taught to be calm.

To break a horse they first need to get used to the lunge. The lunge teaches the horse rythm and they get used to your voice in what they need to do.

After the lunge the horse gets to train with a basic tack with loose reins, which allows the horse to get used to the contact with the mouth.

It's only after the horse gets used to these 2 steps that a second lunge rein is introduced to the horse which moves behind the horse. It's only after this that the horse can start to learn general obedience.

Once the horse is used to being lead around you can then start to lead him on to fields and after that on to roads to get the horse used to traffic.

The horse will discover confidence in himself and also learn calmness and start to accept rules that you want him to obey.

It's only after all of this that the horse can accept a rider. And a whole new set of horse training is needed.
