Like every trade there are tools that will make your life easier if you use them. By having the right tools it will make your job easier and will be more succesfull. If you want to train your own horse it is especially important tha you invest in some proper tools to make your life easier but also to make your life safer.
Here’s a list that is pretty essential if you want to train your horse.
* Rope Halter
In any horse training you will need a rope halter and a lead rope. Many horse trainers find a rope halter is easier to use on the horse especially with tying and leading.
* Lead Rope
The lead rope is attached to the halter and used to steer the horse to where you want it to go. The lead rope is used like a leash and is essential in horse training.
* Longe Line
The longe line is used to train your horse posture and move in different directions.
* Plastic Tarp
A great tool to develop the horse's courage is to use a tarp it’s an inexpensive and effective training aid. Initially you can start by laying the tarp in the training area and leading your horse over it. Reward the horse for good behavior. Always let your horse smell it first. Then ask them to follow you over the tarp. You should also be able to ask your horse to stand quietly on the tarp.
A tarp can get pretty noisy when walked on. But it encourages your horse to get used to strange footings.
To develop your horses trust in you you could place the tarp over your horse's back - do this very slowly - if possibly completely covering your horse with the tarp. This exercise is also good to get your horse used to unusual riding situations and really helps your horse desensitize to many outside conditions.
